Managing Director
Covenant Wines

A native New Yorker, Sagie Kleinlerer (pron. Sah-GHEE KLEIN-lehr-ur) attributes his love of food and wine to his Israeli and French parents. Spending many of his childhood summers in Israel and France, Sagie was exposed early on to the joys of great food and wine shared around the table with friends and family.
After completing his Communications and Art History degrees at Boston University and working in the online advertising world, Sagie earned his law degree at Rutgers Law School. While working as an attorney in New York and later in San Francisco, he found himself spending his weekends and free time interning at cellars in Sonoma and Napa Valley while also attending wine seminars and tastings. Ultimately, law did not carry the luster of a career in wine. Sagie responded to the call of the vineyard and realized his dream by transitioning full time to the wine industry.
Sagie spent several years working as Winery Relations Manager at Larkmead Vineyards in Napa Valley before joining Covenant Winery in 2016 as Managing Director. As an Israeli who speaks Hebrew and English fluently (along with French), Sagie transitions smoothly between the wine worlds of California and Israel. He became a Certified Sommelier with The Court of Master Sommeliers and holds the distinguished WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines.
In his spare time, Sagie produces his own wine–Kleinlerer Wines–enjoys attending live rock concerts and loves traveling with his wife through the wine regions of the world seeking new and interesting wine and cuisine.
